Universal Pictures announced Monday that the release of the spy-thriller movie "The 355" has been delayed from January 15, 2021, to January 14, 2022.

Inside sources stated in a press statement that the move comes amid a surge in coronavirus cases and cinema closures across the globe.

"The 355" is directed by Simon Kinberg and features a high-profile female lead cast, which includes Penélope Cruz, Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong'o, Diane Kruger, and Fan Bingbing.

Universal holds domestic rights to the film, while FilmNation holds international rights, which is expected to be a crowd-pleaser with the overseas audience.
