On Monday, Italy's Jannik Sinner and Belarusia's Aryna Sabalenka won the ATP and WTA 1000 titles in Cincinnati, enhancing their international rankings before the US Open, that will begin next week.

Sinner, who is the highest ranked Italian player ever, world's No. 1, and the first Italian to capture the Cincinnati title, defeated US Frances Tiafoe 7-6(4), 6-2,

On the other hand, Sabalenka beat US Jessica Pegula — who won last week’s Canadian Open in Toronto — 6-3, 7-5.

After his victory, Sinner said: “It was a very tough week … Very tough mentally."

“We were both quite tired from yesterday, we felt a lot of tension, but I’m very glad with the level I played today, especially in the important moments.”

On her side, Sabalenka said: “I want to thank my team. We’ve been through a lot but we never stopped working, never stopped improving ourselves and I’m really happy to have you by my side."

After their latest achievements, Sinner kept his spot on the top of the men's ranking, while Sabalenka improved her ranking from world's No.3 to No.2.
