Algeria's President Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed that his country will join the BRICS economic group soon, as the block greenlighted Algeria’s membership.
Tebboune highlighted that Algeria's accession to the bloc in the first stage will be as an observer before it obtains full membership.
Moreover, the Algerian president stressed that the power of the people is not measured by military force, but rather by economic dominion.
He also underlined that the Algerian economy is witnessing growth and progress, as evidenced by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
Both China and Russia had already welcomed this step.
In previous remarks, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that Algeria is a “great developing country and a representative of emerging economies.”
Wang added that his country “is ready to work with Algeria to play a constructive role in achieving global peace and development.”
