Egyptian superstar Tamer Hosny announced in a Facebook post his decision to postpone his upcoming concerts in March and April over concerns about coronavirus (COVID-19).

The decision comes in line with Egypt’s necessary precautions taken to counter the spread of the coronavirus.

The decision is part of the precautionary measures the government has adopted to stop the spread of coronavirus.

On Monday, Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly decided to suspend all crowded events until further notice, without revealing further details.

This measurement comes in line with the government’s attempt to stop the spread of the virus.

The cabinet's decision was soon followed by Egypt's Culture Ministry announcement of the suspension of artistic and cultural activities with large gatherings until further notice.

Furthermore, the Interior Ministry also suspended prison visits nationwide for 10 days starting today, Tuesday for public and inmates' safety.

Egypt’s Health Ministry announced on Monday that COVID-19 has infected 55 people and killed a man.

The government has been taking a number of preventive measures in an effort to limit the spread of the virus since the emergence of the virus last December.

Egypt has raised the alert level in hospitals, airports, and land ports, along with suspending flight to many countries that have inflicted with the rapidly growing virus.

Egypt’s Ministry of Health announced last Friday that twelve people boarding a Nile cruise were infected with the Coronavirus. The infected were boarding a cruise bound to Luxor, some 800 km south of Cairo.

It is worth mentioning that the virus, which emerged in China's Wuhan late last year, has so far killed over 4,000 people, and infected more than 80,754 others, according to the World Health Organization.

Most of the cases have so far been in China, although in recent weeks have witnessed major development in other countries.
