On Monday, the Afghan Taliban movement claimed that it has recovered millions of American dollars and gold bricks from the residence of Amrullah Saleh, who cited himself as caretaker president of Afghanistan in Ashraf Ghani's absence.

In a viral video, Taliban fighters could be seen sitting around two suitcases stuffed with cash and gold bricks.

The video also shows some of them clicking pictures of the piles of cash at Amrullah Saleh's house.

The extremist movement claimed that nearly $6.5 million, along with 18 gold bricks, were found at Saleh's residence.

In August, Saleh said that he doesn't want "Afghanistan to become Talibanistan". He tweeted: "The resistance is continuing and will continue. I am here with my soil, for my soil & defending its dignity."

"We reject of the Emirate of the Taliban, we reject dictatorship, and we reject the grab of power by force," Saleh affirmed.
