At least nine people were injured in an explosion at a military base in northeastern Taiwan on Monday, the island's central news agency reported.
The report said two of the injured were in serious condition. All the injured were taken to the hospital.
The explosion occurred at the Hsiang Feng military base near Keelung town at 3:00 p.m. local time, according to the report.
The Central News Agency mentioned that a 120 mm mortar shell exploded during an inspection by technicians. A special committee has been set up to investigate the cause of the explosion.
