Tag Eldin: Egypt to Vaccinate 40 Mln Residents by December

President’s Advisor for Health and Prevention Affairs Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El Din said that Egypt will vaccinate 40 million residents by December, media agencies reported on Sunday.

He added that the booster shot of the vaccine will be given to those who received the second dose of their vaccines a year ago.

Next, the Presidential advisor asserted that the state has enough vaccine doses to vaccinate the majority of the Egyptian population, as Egypt started to manufacture vaccines, alongside, depending on various sources for getting vaccines.

Tag El Din continued that at least 60 million doses by the beginning of November to vaccine all residents who didn't receive their first shot and to give the booster shots.

The President advisor's statements came on Saturday during a phone interview with TV Presenter Lamees El Hadidy.

It is worthy to mention that the Ministry of Health highlighted a few days ago that the climax of the fourth wave of COVID-19 in Egypt will start in a week.

Therefore, the authorities urged all residents to strictly follow all protective procedures against COVID-19  including wearing facial masks and applying social distancing.

However, the ministry highlighted that the number of reported infections, and deaths during the fourth wave is still fewer than the recorded figures in the previous waves.

Regarding the most common symptoms of the infections, they are fever, headache, tiredness, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, aches and pains, coughs, a rash on skin or discolouration of fingers or toes, and congestion.

Moreover, the ministry called all residents to register for the COVID-19 vaccine in Egypt to help in controlling the virus infections.

It highlighted that it targets vaccinating 40% of Egypt’s population by the end of the year, asserting that all vaccines are free, active, and safe.
