Tag El Din: Egypt Omicron Free Status Is Temporary

President’s Advisor for Health and Prevention Affairs Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El Din said that Egypt is still Omicron COVID-19 variant, however, this is status is temporary as it will be detected in Egypt with no doubt, RT reported on Wednesday.

Tag El Din added that the issue of being detected in Egypt or not is a minor issue, asserting that the authorities are cooperating together to control its emergence inside the country in the case it is detected inside the country.

The presidential advisor revealed that there is no full information about the new variant to identify the means of dealing with its infectious nature, continuing that until now there is no proof regarding the impact of vaccines on the new strain, therefore, the panic the world lives now is justified.

He also asserted that the activity of the new strain is being studied and analyzed, and regarding the common information media tackles currently, it is just possibilities.

It is worthy to mention that Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 949 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 358,578 on Tuesday.

The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 20,474 nationwide after the ministry announced 62 deaths.

About 639 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising the total number of fully-recovered cases to 297,536.
