Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali said at dawn on Sunday that he is ready to "cooperate" with any leadership chosen by the people and any "handover" of power measures, with the armed factions announcing the start of entering the capital.

Al-Jalali announced in a speech broadcast via his Facebook account: "This country can be a normal country, a country that builds good relations with its neighbors and the world... but this matter is left to any leadership chosen by the Syrian people. We are ready to cooperate with it so that we provide them with all possible facilities."

The Syrian Prime Minister added: "All Syrian state institutions must be preserved... I am not keen on any position or benefits."

He added: "We will cooperate with any leadership chosen by the Syrians... and we will transfer all government files to it," stressing that "all Syrian state institutions must be preserved."

He said that he will remain at home and is ready to support the continuation of state affairs.

Earlier on Sunday morning, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that President Bashar al-Assad left Syria via Damascus International Airport, which was evacuated by the army and security forces following an unprecedented attack by armed factions that announced that they had begun entering the capital.

The director of the observatory, Rami Abdul Rahman, stated that "Assad left Syria via Damascus International Airport, before the army and security forces withdrew" from the area.
