Syria and Turkey have signed a memorandum of understanding to resume automobile traffic between their territories, marking a significant step toward restoring economic ties and facilitating the movement of goods across their shared border.
According to the General Directorate of Land and Sea Ports of Syria, the agreement, signed with the Turkish Ministry of Transport, aims to simplify customs processes, ease transit operations, and reinstate road transportation based on the 2004 bilateral framework.
The announcement, broadcast on Syria’s state-run Al-Ikhbaria television, signals a renewed effort to normalize logistical and commercial exchanges between the two nations after years of strained relations due to regional conflicts.
The memorandum outlines a coordinated strategy to streamline the flow of trucks and goods between Syria and Turkey, reinforcing both countries’ aspirations to revitalize trade routes and economic cooperation.
