Following suspected Israeli missile assaults on Tartus and Homs launched from Lebanese airspace, two Syrian soldiers were injured and material damage was sustained in the coastal region, where Russia has a naval station, according to Russia Today.

“Our air defences responded to an Israeli air aggression this evening, targeting certain areas in the central and coastal regions, and shot down the majority of hostile missiles,” the Syrian military said SANA on Monday.

Three explosions were heard in Homs, Syria's inland metropolis, as reports of missiles being shot down over the neighbouring countryside arrived. On social media, videos of rockets exploding in the air have gone viral.

At roughly 7:16 p.m. local time, an attack was launched from the north of Beirut, according to SANA. However, an unknown number of missiles made it through, hurting soldiers and causing a fire in an industrial sector south of Tartus.

A Russian naval facility is located in Tartus' port. Since October 2015, a Russian expeditionary force has been in Syria, assisting Damascus in its war against terrorists and extremists.

Or Heller, an Israeli Channel 10 correspondent, stated that this was the IDF's seventh attack in two and a half weeks, and that the timing was odd compared to past occurrences - early in the evening rather than around midnight.

Israel frequently launches strikes against what it says are “Iranian” targets within Syria. Damascus has denounced the attacks as acts of aggression. Russia and Turkey have also condemned the strikes as violations of international law.
