The Ministry of Transport and Swvl signed a cooperation protocol to transport passengers using smart applications, at the ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport confirmed, during statements to Sada Al-Balad channel, that the Egyptian state seeks to maximize mass transportation in (the subway, monorail, express train), pointing out that there are places that will be difficult to reach by public transportation, which called for putting forward the idea of smart private transportation.

The Minister of Transport noted that technology transportation revolves around the passenger’s request for a private car licensed by the concerned authorities and under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport, pointing out that this system has been present in Egypt for years, but at random, so it had to be supervised by the state to provide a good service to the users due to its safety.

He continued: The state will have a supervisory and regulatory role only for this new type of transport, indicating that a law and executive regulations have been issued for the government of that process.

Al-Wazir announced that Swvl was the first company to reconcile its status, and obtained a license to operate this smart service safely in the street, stressing his confidence in the success of this new experience at all levels, as the state is working on developing roads and bridges, and this develops this new service.
