Switzerland took a major step toward qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after securing a dominant 4–1 win over Sweden on Saturday evening, in their Group B clash of the European qualifiers.

The tournament will be hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Switzerland’s goals came through Breel Embolo, Granit Xhaka, Dan Ndoye, and Johan Manzambi, who scored in the 13th, 60th, 75th, and 94th minutes respectively.

Sweden’s lone goal was netted by Benjamin Nygren in the 33rd minute.

With this victory, Switzerland sit firmly at the top of Group B with 13 points.

Despite their strong performance, Switzerland have not yet secured qualification, as they were relying on Kosovo dropping points in their match against Slovenia.

However, Kosovo won 2–0, delaying Switzerland’s official qualification for the World Cup.
