The Swiss Agency for Therapeutic Products "Swissmedic" said on Saturday that at least 16 people have died in Switzerland after being vaccinated against the Coronavirus.
The agency said it had received reports of 364 suspected adverse drug reactions, including 199 related to the vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, and 154 cases related to Moderna.
"In 16 serious cases, people died of varying intervals after receiving the vaccine." The average age is 86 years, and most of them suffer from pre-existing severe conditions," Swissmedic said.
"The cause of death were conditions such as infections, cardiovascular disease. Despite the time correlation, there is no concrete evidence to suggest that the vaccination was the cause of death," agency added.
According to Johns Hopkins University, more than 113.37 million people have contracted the coronavirus worldwide, with more than 2.51 million deaths.
