Dr. Abbas Al-Halabi, Minister of Education and Higher Education in Lebanon, announced the suspension of schools, high schools, public and private technical institutes, the Lebanese University, and all private higher education institutions tomorrow, Wednesday, and the cessation of administrative and preparatory work in public and private schools, high schools, and technical institutes.
He stressed in a statement reported by the Lebanese News Agency, "This comes in condemnation of the criminal act committed by the Israeli enemy against citizens, which left thousands of martyrs and wounded."
Simultaneous explosions of hand-held "pager" communication devices occurred, leading to the killing and wounding of hundreds in a number of Lebanese cities.
The agency explained that in an unprecedented security event that occurred in the southern suburbs of Beirut in addition to many Lebanese areas, the Israeli occupation forces, using advanced technology, breached the hand-held "pager" devices in "Ali al-Nahri" and "Rayak", which led to dozens of injuries that ambulances are working to transfer to hospitals.
