Sun illuminates King Ramses II face in Aswan (Photos)

Abu Simbel Temple in Aswan witnessed today’s dawn the marvelous phenomenon of King Ramses II's solar illumination.

 

In press statements, Abdel Moneim Saeed, Director-General of Aswan and Nubia Antiquities Sector revealed that about 260 foreign visitors and 800 Egyptians enjoyed watching this unique phenomenon, which takes place twice a year, on October 22 and February 22.

 

He asserted that all hygiene and safety precautionary measures were taken to ensure the safety of visitors, including maintaining social distancing and wearing facemasks.

 

The alignment phenomenon lasted for nearly 20 minutes.
