Sudan affirms on Sunday that it adheres to expanding the negotiation mechanism regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) file, in order to reach a solution, Al Arabiya channel reported.

Dr. Yasser Abbas, the Sudanese Minister of Irrigation, had threatened to sue the Ethiopian government over the Renaissance Dam, stressing that they will conduct visits to African countries in order to explain Sudan’s position on resolving the issue of the Renaissance Dam, “We adhere to the national negotiating position based on our right to protect our water security interests.”

Sudanese Foreign Minister Maryam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi confirmed that her country has offered all concessions to reach a satisfactory solution to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam file.

Last month , Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said that the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam crisis faces Ethiopian intransigence, explaining that Ethiopia has rejected some international mediations to solve the crisis.

Recently, Shoukry had made several African tours to a number of brotherly African countries, carrying messages from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to presidents and leaders of these countries, about the developments of the Renaissance Dam file and the Egyptian position in this regard.
