Sudan Summons its Ambassador to Ethiopia

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it had summoned the Sudanese ambassador to Ethiopia for consultations, pointing out that it had monitored recent statements by senior Ethiopian officials refusing to assist Sudan in ending the bloody conflict in the Tigray region.

In her statement today,the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, in a statement today, Sunday, the suggestion that Sudan played a role in the conflict and the claim of the occupation represent a continuation of Ethiopia’s practice of overriding the facts in its relationship with Sudan and promoting allegations that have no basis for, and is based only on the ambitions of circles in the Ethiopian government.

It added that Sudan's interest in resolving the Tigray conflict is part of its commitment to regional peace and stability and an expression of its keenness to stabilize the situation in Ethiopia.

The Ministry explained that the initiative of the Sudanese Prime Minister, Dr. Abdullah Hamdok, within the framework of his presidency of the IGAD organization, aims to encourage the Ethiopian parties to reach a comprehensive ceasefire and to engage in a comprehensive political dialogue process to preserve the unity and stability of Ethiopia.
