Sudan and Israel, under American mediation, have reached an initial agreement to stop hostilities and begin gradual steps to normalize relations.

A high-ranking Sudanese source said, in a statement to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, that this agreement was completed during a meeting with a senior American-Israeli delegation in Khartoum on Wednesday.

The two sides held secret meetings with the Sudanese negotiating delegation, in the presence of the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok.

They discussed the details of a deal that includes removing Sudan from the American list of countries supporting terrorism, allocating financial aid to Sudan, freeing Sudanese funds held in the United States, and establishing full relations with Israel.

The Sudanese official added that the parties are currently working to determine the date, place, and method of announcing the agreement.
