German side Stuttgart announced on Monday the signing of Moroccan international Bilal El Khannous from Leicester City on loan until the end of the season, with an obligation to buy for £26 million.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder featured in 36 matches for Leicester last season across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing five assists. He also appeared in the opening two Championship fixtures this season against Sheffield Wednesday and Preston North End.

El Khannous had attracted interest from several clubs, including Crystal Palace, but informed Leicester that he did not wish to continue in England, seeing his future instead in the Bundesliga.

Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Völlgermuth praised the signing, describing El Khannous as “a strong addition to our midfield thanks to his technical ability and pace.”

The Moroccan midfielder expressed his excitement at starting a new chapter in Germany, saying Stuttgart is “a big club with strong ambitions.”

El Khannous becomes Stuttgart’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window, part of the club’s push to strengthen the squad following key departures.
