The Cypriot authorities said today, Tuesday, that the strong storms the country is currently experiencing have destroyed 15 houses in "Nikitari" village in the capital, Nicosia, and damaged a few other homes.
For his part, Interior Minister Nikos Norris inspected the region last night, and stressed that all authorities are doing their best to meet the urgent needs of the population, the official News Agency, "CNA" reported.
Norris added that the affected families will be moved to nearby hotels, while the local authorities will work to meet the needs of all other affected families.
The Cypriot official added that the Electricity Authority is currently working on restoring power while the Ministry of Agriculture will assess the damage caused to farmers and agricultural crops. The cabinet will also discuss this matter during its scheduled session tomorrow, Wednesday.
