Netflix is transforming its dystopian Korean series “Squid Game” into the biggest reality competition series ever.

The show titled, "Squid Game: The Challenge", will see 456 real players competing for a staggering cash prize of $4.56million (£3.65million).

The contestants will take part in a series of games inspired by the original show, which will also contain surprising new additions in a variety of contests, with the opportunity to forge alliances and develop potential winning strategies to survive.

Naturally, the elimination will not be quite as brutal in the show as it is in the violent drama.

The streaming giant hasn't announced how they plan to adapt the game in which a giant doll fatally zaps people or masked guards fatally shoot competitors in the head if they fail to carve a honeycomb candy correctly.

On June 12, Netflix officially confirmed the record-breaking Korean survival drama has been renewed for season two.

It will introduce new characters and feature many developments.

“Squid Game” was first announced in 2019 and debuted on September 17, 2021, on the platform. It was created by Hwang Dong-hyuk.

The series was the “biggest-ever series at launch” for the giant streamer. It is Netflix’s first-ever Korean series to reach No. 1 in the United States, attracting 1.65 billion hours of viewing in the 28 days following its release.
