The Spanish government has officially approved FC Barcelona’s bid to host the 2029 UEFA Champions League final at the renovated Spotify Camp Nou.

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, the Council of Ministers approved the proposal put forward by Education and Sport Minister Milagros Tolón following a request from the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

The Spanish government also approved Bilbao’s bid to host the 2028 Women’s Champions League final at San Mamés Stadium. Officials highlighted the sporting, economic, tourism, and social benefits of staging major European events as key reasons behind their support.

Barcelona’s proposal comes as Spain prepares to host another Champions League final at Metropolitano Stadium during the 2026-27 season, strengthening the country’s position ahead of the 2029 selection process.

For Barcelona, hosting the final at a fully renovated Camp Nou would represent a major milestone in president Joan Laporta’s long-term vision to showcase the club’s rebuilt stadium on the global stage.
