Spanish media reports, including Marca, indicate that the Spanish Football Federation has reached a near-official agreement to play a friendly against Chile on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Mexico.
The arrangement reportedly followed Chile’s approval after Spain presented a substantial financial offer.
Spain is scheduled to play two friendly matches ahead of the World Cup.
The first is set for Thursday, June 4, 2026, against a lower-ranked national team, with negotiations ongoing for a potential second opponent—possibly China, who are planning multiple friendlies in Europe during the same week.
The Spanish coaching staff aims to use these matches to prepare players tactically and physically, test squad depth, and experiment with lineups ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
