On Monday, media reports indicated that there is a possibility of Spain to lose its share of hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup, alongside Morocco, and Portugal.

FIFA and UEFA believe that the Spanish Government, represented by the Supreme Sports Council, interface in the work and the activities of the Spanish Football Federation.

Pedro Rocha, who is accused in a financial corruption case, was elected as the new president of the Spanish Federation.

He succeeded Luis Rubiales, who was forced to leave his position due to his accusation related to his kiss of the Spanish women’s national team player, Jenny Hermoso, during the team’s coronation with the 2023 World Cup title.

The Supreme Sports Council in Spain was forced to accept Rocha's election as the new president of the Football Association.

In addition, the government's representatives formed a committee to supervise the work of the Federation.

According to Marka, Spanish government intervention actually raises questions from UEFA and FIFA regarding the independence of football in Spain, noting that the matter includes doubts about the country’s organization of the 2030 World Cup, within a joint file with Morocco and Portugal.

FIFA didn't confirm the receipt of the file. The three countries need the approval of the FIFA Extraordinary General Assembly, which is scheduled to be held next December, in order for their hosting of the World Cup to become official.

Marca indicated that there is sufficient time for a new candidacy file in which Spain is not a party, indicating the possibility of Morocco advancing and Portugal A bilateral bid to organize the World Cup.

The matter could include the possibility of excluding the Spanish national team from participating in the Euro 2024, and U-23 teams from participating at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
