Spain secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Peru in an international friendly on Tuesday at Cuauhtémoc Stadium in Puebla, Mexico, as La Roja completed their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Spain made a flying start, taking the lead after just two minutes through Mikel Oyarzabal. The European side doubled their advantage in the 32nd minute when Pedri found the net.

The third goal arrived in the 53rd minute after an own goal from Peru goalkeeper Pedro Gallese, putting Spain firmly in control.

Peru pulled one back through Jairo Vélez in the 66th minute, but Spain comfortably held on for the win.

Led by coach Luis de la Fuente, Spain continue to build momentum ahead of the tournament and are widely regarded as one of the contenders for the world title.

The Spanish national team has not lifted the World Cup trophy since its historic triumph at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and hopes are high that this talented generation can challenge for football’s biggest prize once again.

Spain have been drawn in Group H alongside Saudi Arabia, Uruguay, and Cape Verde.

La Roja will begin their World Cup campaign on June 15 against Cape Verde in Atlanta, before facing Saudi Arabia and Uruguay in what promises to be a highly competitive group.
