A Palestinian source suggested that the Rafah crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt may reopen on Wednesday, provided that "no Israeli obstacles arise."

The source told "Sky News Arabia" on Tuesday that if the crossing opens as planned, the first batch of wounded Palestinians will be evacuated from the Gaza Strip toward Egypt.

Moreover, the source explained that "a European monitoring force has been present in Al-Arish for several days and is preparing to enter the Rafah crossing in the coming hours to coordinate entry and exit procedures."

Furthermore, the source reported that members of the Palestinian Intelligence security forces, wearing civilian clothes, are scheduled to enter the crossing on Tuesday, coinciding with the arrival of the European monitors,to manage logistical arrangements.

Earlier, a U.S. official told the "Times of Israel" that Washington expects the crossing to reopen by the end of this week, following the recovery of the body of Ran Gvili, the last Israeli hostage held in the Gaza Strip.
