South Korean superstar Son Heung-min marked his arrival in Major League Soccer in style, scoring his first goal for Los Angeles FC in a 1-1 draw against FC Dallas on Sunday morning.
The 33-year-old forward opened his MLS account with a stunning free-kick in the sixth minute, giving LAFC an early lead before Dallas struck back to share the points.
The result keeps LAFC fourth in the Western Conference standings with 41 points, behind leaders Minnesota United (50) and Vancouver Whitecaps (49).
Son joined LAFC earlier this summer on a deal running until 2027, with an option to extend for two more years, after ending his illustrious spell at Tottenham Hotspur.
The transfer was reported to be worth over $26.7 million, setting a new record for the most expensive signing in MLS history.
During his decade at Spurs, Son became one of the club’s greatest-ever players, scoring 173 goals in 454 appearances.
He captained the team from 2023, lifting the Europa League in May 2025, and remains remembered for iconic moments such as netting the first official goal at Tottenham’s new stadium in 2019 and inspiring the run to the Champions League final that same year.
