Somalia has welcomed the historic and principled announcement by the French Republic expressing its intention to recognize the State of Palestine.
In a statement reported by the Somali News Agency on Saturday, Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the move as a reaffirmation of the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of a sovereign state, in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
The statement added that Somalia views the announcement as a bold and timely contribution to the growing international consensus in favor of justice, peace, and the realization of the two-state solution.
