The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) announced on Sunday that Ain Sokhna Port has received the luxury cruise ship Crystal Serenity, carrying more than 1,100 passengers and crew, in a move aimed at supporting Egypt’s tourism sector.
According to an official statement, the vessel arrived from Port of Mumbai and docked at the second basin quay operated by DP World at Sokhna Port.
Approximately 400 tourists of various nationalities are expected to board the ship at Ain Sokhna, in addition to a crew ranging between 400 and 520 members. The vessel is also scheduled to call at West Port Said Port later this week, where an additional 200 are set to join, bringing the total number of passengers and crew onboard to over 1,100.
Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the SCZone said the authority is committed to supporting key sectors of the Egyptian economy, including tourism, through the development of its ports and industrial zones.
He highlighted that the ongoing development of Ain Sokhna Port, implemented through coordinated efforts between state institutions and the SCZone, has significantly enhanced the port’s readiness to serve industrial, commercial, logistics, and tourism activities.
Gamal El-Din noted that the port has achieved international recognition, entering the Guinness World Records as the deepest man-made port basin in the world, with a depth of 19 meters.
He added that this milestone reflects Egypt’s broader ambition to position Ain Sokhna as a key regional hub on the Red Sea, serving as a gateway to Africa and a vital link connecting global markets.
Port authorities have implemented comprehensive coordination measures to ensure the safety and security of all visitors, while facilitating smooth operations and providing a high-quality tourism experience for passengers of diverse nationalities.
