On Saturday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said that a new batch of fighters from the Syrian factions loyal to Turkey was transferred to Libya to fight alongside the Government of National Accord(GNA) in its war against the Libyan National Army (LNA) led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.

The SOHR claimed that Qatar is hosting 400 Syrian mercenaries to train them in preparation for their transfer to Libya to fight.

The “Turkish intelligence” transferred at least 120 fighters from the “Suleiman Shah, Sham Legion and Sultan Murad” factions from the Afrin region to Turkey and then to Libya.

The sources of SOHR said it was agreed with this group from the beginning to transfer them from Turkey to Qatar to protect government institutions there, but after their arrival on Turkish territory, they were informed that their destination was Libya, not Qatar.

According to the statistics of the SOHR, the number of recruits who have gone to the Libyan territories so far has increased to approximately 17,420 mercenaries of Syrian nationality, including 350 children under the age of 18 years.

Statistics also indicated that the number of mercenaries of the pro-Turkish factions, about 6000, returned to Syria after the end of their contracts and taking their financial dues. Simultaneously, Turkey continues to bring more mercenary factions to its camps and train them.

Furthermore, the number of jihadists who have arrived in Libya has reached approximately 10,000, of whom 2500 are Tunisian citizens.

Ankara continues to escalate its involvement in the Libyan conflict by supporting the Government of National Accord (GNA), despite Turkey participating and agreeing to the results of the Berlin conference held last January where foreign states active in Libya agreed to uphold the UN arms embargo.
