Sisi, U.S. CENTCOM Commander Discuss Strategic Ties, Regional Stability

SisiSisiPresident Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today General Michael Kurilla, Commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), in a meeting attended by General Abdel Majeed Saqr, Minister of Defense and Military Production, and U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, Herro Mustafa.

Official Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shenawy stated that General Kurilla conveyed the greetings of U.S. President Donald Trump to President El-Sisi, which the President appreciated, reaffirming the depth of the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States.

The meeting focused on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and coordination, particularly in military and security fields, underlining the mutual commitment to enhancing regional and international stability and security.

The discussion also addressed the evolving situation in the Middle East. President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s ongoing intensive efforts to secure a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, facilitate hostage and detainee exchanges, and ensure the urgent and continuous flow of humanitarian aid. 

He praised President Trump’s efforts in working toward a ceasefire, stressing the importance of reviving the peace process and striving for lasting peace and stability in the region.

The two sides agreed on the need to de-escalate regional tensions and pursue sustainable political solutions to current crises, particularly in Syria, Libya, Sudan, and the Horn of Africa. 

Additionally, the issue of water security was discussed, with President El-Sisi reiterating the strategic significance of the Nile River as a matter of national security for Egypt.
