Sisi Urges Gov't to Support National Electric Cars Project in Egypt

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi ordered the government on Sunday to harness all efforts to successfully carry out a national project to manufacture electric cars in Egypt, according to Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.

Sisi gave the directive at a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Presidential Aid for National and Strategic Projects Sherif Ismail, Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker, Minister of the Public Business Sector Hisham Tawfiq, Minister of Trade and Industry Neveen Gamea, and Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Ahmed Morsi.

The president ordered the government to partner with the private sector to keep pace with the latest global technologies in the industry of electric cars.

The meeting tackled all the commercial and industrial aspects of the project, including depending on the local component, attracting foreign investments, and choosing the most suitable models that meet the needs of the Egyptian market.
