Sisi Reaffirms Significance of Judiciary to Fight Terrorism, Extremism

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Saturday the heads of the African Constitutional and Supreme Courts participating in the Fifth Conference organized by the Egyptian Constitutional Court of African Constitutional and Supreme Courts.

Counselor Said Marei Amr, President of the Supreme Constitutional Court, and Counselor Adel Omar Sharif, Vice President of the Supreme Constitutional Court took part in the conference, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.Sisi Reaffirms Significance of Judiciary to Fight Terrorism, Extremism

Rady said that Sisi welcomed the heads of African courts, stressing Egypt's keenness to organize the conference periodically to support the role of the judiciary in African societies, and a deep appreciation for the importance of the role of the constitutional and supreme courts in Egypt and various African countries.

In this regard, Sisi asserted that the current stage needs the African judiciary to play an influential role in activating coordination among African countries towards building a unified and homogeneous legislative environment, to deal with the international challenges facing the process of formulating a common future for the continent.

On his part, Marei stressed that Sisi’s patronage of the conference is a great honor, especially in light of its vital and tangible impact in strengthening judicial cooperation at the continental level, and developing its effective role in combating terrorism and achieving development, especially through the formation of a continental system for judges.Sisi Reaffirms Significance of Judiciary to Fight Terrorism, Extremism

“The participants expressed their honor to meet the President, appreciating the vital role of the conference in enhancing judicial cooperation among the African constitutional courts,” the spokesman noted.

Moreover, Sisi reaffirmed the importance of judicial institutions in confronting the phenomenon of terrorism and extremist ideology, taking into account the devastating impact of this phenomenon on the state’s capabilities and gains.
