Sisi Reviews Implementation of Solid Waste Management Plan

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi was briefed Tuesday on the latest developments of the executive plan for the management of solid waste.

This came during Sisi's meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Military Production Minister Mohamed el Assar, Planning Minister Hala el Saied, Local Development Minister Mahmoud Sharawi, and Environment Minister Yasmeen Fouad, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.

Fouad said: "Cooperation with the Military Production, Local Development, and Planning Ministries and the Arab Organization for Industrialization is underway to implement the presidential directives, pointing to ongoing progress in implementing the plan."

The plan includes improving the efficiency of the collection, transport, and treatment of the waste and raising the environmental awareness of the citizens about how to deal with the waste as well as supporting the recycling projects nationwide.

In this regard, President Sisi directed to continue efforts in this plan as it has a great impact on the citizens' daily life, establish national projects for waste management, provide new jobs, and merge the informal sector.

The president stressed the importance that the citizens should feel a remarkable improvement in this vital issue to boost their environmental and health conditions.

During the meeting, Saied and Sharawi reviewed the president on the progress of an Upper Egypt development program at costs of EGP 18 billion.

In this context, Sisi urged concerned officials to take into account the developmental gaps among the governorates and direct the additions resources to the most-needy governorates in light with Egypt 2030 Vision for Sustainable Development.
