Sisi Receives Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Chief in Cairo

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Sergey Naryshkin, Director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, during a high-level meeting held on Tuesday, in the presence of Major General Hassan Rashad, Head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service.

According to Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shenawy, President el-Sisi asked at the outset of the meeting that his greetings be conveyed to Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressing Egypt’s appreciation for the positive momentum witnessed in Egyptian–Russian relations in recent years.

President el-Sisi underlined Egypt’s keenness to continue strengthening bilateral relations across all fields, while intensifying political and security consultations between the two countries in a way that meets the aspirations of both friendly peoples and contributes to international and regional peace and stability.

For his part, Naryshkin conveyed President Putin’s greetings and appreciation to President el-Sisi, reaffirming the strategic nature of relations between Cairo and Moscow. He stressed the Russian leadership’s commitment to further developing cooperation with Egypt in all areas, including trade and investment.

The Russian intelligence chief also highlighted his country’s pride in the ongoing cooperation with Egypt on the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project, describing it as a flagship example of the strong strategic partnership between the two nations.

The meeting reflected the depth of Egyptian–Russian relations and the shared interest in enhancing coordination on political, economic, and security issues amid evolving regional and international challenges.
