President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call today from Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Friday to touch on Uganda's upcoming hosting of the African Union Extraordinary Summit on the Comprehensive African Agricultural Development Programme (CAADP).
The official spokesman for the Presidency Mohamed El-Shenawy stated that the two presidents stressed the depth of the historical relations between the Egyptian and Ugandan peoples, emphasizing the importance of enhancing joint cooperation and exploring broader horizons for bilateral relations in various fields to achieve the interests of the two countries, in light of the pivotal role of the two countries in the African continent, especially in the context of enhancing cooperation and coordination between the Nile Basin countries.
The spokesman, added that the call also addressed the situation in East Africa and the Horn of Africa, where the President reviewed the Egyptian efforts in support of brotherly Sudan to get out of its crisis and push towards a ceasefire, while stressing the importance of protecting the Sudanese people from the scourge of war and facilitating the access of humanitarian aid, which the Ugandan President appreciated.
