On Tuesday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, during which the two leaders discussed bilateral ties, regional developments, and recent de-escalation efforts in South Asia.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, President El-Sisi welcomed the recently agreed ceasefire between India and Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of preserving and sustaining the truce. He stressed the need for permanent political solutions to the longstanding conflict to ensure security and stability in South Asia.

Prime Minister Sharif thanked President El-Sisi for Egypt’s constructive role and mediation efforts, along with those of other countries, in helping to defuse tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. He expressed appreciation for Egypt's ongoing support for regional and global peace and security.

The call also covered prospects for enhancing bilateral relations, especially in the economic, trade, and investment sectors. Both leaders expressed their commitment to expanding cooperation, building on the historic and close ties between Egypt and Pakistan. They also underscored the importance of joint action against terrorism and extremism, in line with their respective roles in regional security.

In addition, the leaders discussed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, stressing the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid. They emphasized the necessity of advancing the Arab-Islamic initiative for Gaza’s reconstruction and ensuring its swift implementation to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
