President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin agreed on the importance of increasing the number of Russian tourists visiting Egypt and promoting new tourist destinations in Russia. They emphasized strengthening cooperation in the fields of energy, food security, mining, agriculture, and industry, as well as continuing coordination between the two countries in international forums, including the BRICS group.
This came during the President's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Friday, on the sidelines of his participation in the Victory Day celebrations in the Russian capital, Moscow.
The official spokesperson for the Presidency stated that the two presidents held an expanded session of talks attended by delegations from both countries. President Putin began the meeting by expressing his appreciation for the President's participation in this year's celebration, which reflects the strong and historical relations between the two countries and their friendly peoples.
Sisi extended his congratulations to President Putin and the Russian people on the occasion of Victory Day. He praised Egypt's strategic relations with Russia, which are based on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement concluded between the two countries in 2018. He expressed his appreciation for the momentum witnessed in bilateral relations in various fields, including the establishment of the Russian Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone(SCZone) and the construction of the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant.
The two presidents expressed their hope for the success of the joint committee between the two countries, which will be held this May, which will address ways to strengthen bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest.
The presidential spokesperson stated that the discussions addressed developments in regional and international issues of mutual interest. The two presidents emphasized the importance of restoring stability in the Middle East, particularly in the Gaza Strip, and the need to intensify efforts to avoid regional escalation.
In this context, the President reviewed Egypt's efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, release hostages and prisoners, and deliver humanitarian aid to the Strip to address the humanitarian crisis.
He stressed the importance of reaching a final solution to the Palestinian issue through the establishment of a Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967, borders, as this is the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace in the region.
On his part, President Putin expressed his great appreciation for Egypt's role in the region, noting Russia's full support for Egypt's efforts to restore calm and achieve regional stability, as well as for the Gaza Strip reconstruction plan approved by the extraordinary Arab Summit hosted by Cairo in March 2025.
The discussions also addressed developments in Syria, Libya, and Sudan, in addition to the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. The President emphasized Egypt's position, which calls for diplomatic solutions to international crises that preserve international peace and security.
