President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed Monday that the Palestinian issue will continue to have priority in Egyptian politics, pointing out the firmness of the Egyptian stance towards the issue, and Egypt's full support for Palestinian positions and choices.
Sisi and Palestinian Counterpart Mahmoud Abbas held a bilateral summit on Monday in Cairo and discussed various developments on the Palestinian arena and a number of issues of common concern.
Abbas praised the positions of Egypt and its role in “supporting the rights of our people to freedom and independence, and the importance of continuing to strive towards achieving a just and comprehensive peace.”
The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, Bassam Rady, said that it was agreed to continue intensive consultations and coordination between the two presidents in order to follow up on the steps that would be taken during the coming period, seeking to resolve the current situation by returning to the negotiation track.
