Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed the importance of raising readiness levels at all work sites connected to navigation through the Suez Canal amid the ongoing regional conflict.

The remarks came during a meeting on Thursday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Suez Canal Authority Chairman Osama Rabie, according to Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy.

During the meeting, Rabie presented an assessment of the impact of the current war in the Middle East on the Suez Canal and global shipping routes. He noted that the escalation has affected maritime traffic and supply chains, while outlining the measures taken by the authority to address these challenges.

Rabie said the Suez Canal Authority has implemented urgent procedures, including raising the state of preparedness across all operational sites and facilities to ensure the continued delivery of navigation services around the clock.

President El-Sisi emphasized the need to maintain the highest level of readiness at all locations associated with canal navigation and operations. He also called for close monitoring of safety procedures and the adoption of additional precautionary measures to strengthen preparedness across the authority’s service facilities.

The president stressed the strategic importance of the Suez Canal as a vital artery for global trade and energy shipments, highlighting the need to ensure its safe and uninterrupted operation despite regional tensions.
