Sisi, Modi Discuss Joint Coronavirus Efforts

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Tuesday a phone call from Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, according to Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Bassam Rady. 

Rady stated that the Indian prime minister congratulated President Sisi on Eid Al-Fitr, stressing his country's pride in the close ties it has with Egypt, and appreciating the prominent political weight that Egypt exercised in a balanced manner at the regional and international levels.

On his part, President Sisi thanked Modi for this kind gesture, praising the distinguished historical bilateral relations between Egypt and India.

“President Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's keenness to push forward the frameworks of bilateral cooperation at various levels, especially with regard to the commercial, investment and medical level,” Rady added.

The Egyptian spokesperson noted that the conversation dealt with exchanging views on a number of topics of bilateral relations, especially with regard to experiences and best practices of the two countries to combat and contain the repercussions of the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Sisi Discusses Coronavirus Cooperation With Modi 

In April, Sisi received a phone call from Modi in which they exchanged views on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation frameworks between the two friendly countries in the fields of health, scientific research and technology, and the efforts of the two countries to combat the spread of the new coronavirus.

“They agreed on joint coordination in the fields related to combating the spread of the virus through exchanging successful experiences and communication between authorities concerned with control efforts and health protection measures,” said Rady.

During that phone conversation, the Indian prime minister congratulated Sisi on the occasion of the coming of the holy month of Ramadan.

Moreover, Modi praised the care received by the members of the Indian community in Egypt, and appreciated what Egypt has achieved during the past years at the level the internal achievements of security, stability and development.
