Sisi Meets Palestinian Counterpart in New York

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received, at his residence in New York, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Egypt’s presidency spokesperson Bassam Radi said.

The two presidents discussed the latest developments on the Palestinian issue, in light of the historical relations between Egypt and Palestine, and the priority attached to the Palestinian issue in Egypt's foreign policy.

In this regard, President Sisi affirmed Egypt's continued efforts to help the Palestinian people restore their legitimate rights and establish their independent state in accordance with international legitimacy.

On his part, the Palestinian President expressed his sincere appreciation for Egypt's efforts and its historic positions in supporting the Palestinian cause, stressing the deep and solid relations between the two peoples.

He also praised the Egyptian efforts to achieve reconciliation among the Palestinian factions, stressing his keenness to continue consultations and coordination with Egypt on various issues of common interest.

The Spokesman added that the two presidents agreed to continue intensive consultation and coordination in order to follow up the next steps, including unifying the Palestinian ranks and the efforts of national reconciliation.

Noteworthy, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi arrived on Saturday morning in New York to participate in the 74th General Assembly of the United Nations (UNGA74).
