President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Tuesday with the president of the republic of Hungary János Áder on the sidelines of the 74th UN General Assembly meetings in New York.
During the meeting, Sisi praised the historic relations between Egypt and Hungary, and praised the development of bilateral relations in recent years, including several presidential summits held since 2015.
Sisi affirmed the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries at various levels, including the continuity of coordination on the international stage.
On his part, János praised the political stability and economic progress achieved by Egypt over the past few years, stressing the country's important role in restoring stability in the Middle East, through combating terrorism and illegal immigration, as well as its contributions in encouraging political settlements in the region.
According to the Spokesman of the Presidency Bassam Rady, the meeting touched on ways to enhance economic cooperation and increase the volume of trade between the two countries in order to enhance the level of political relations between them and to take advantage of the economic potential of both countries.
It also discussed a number of regional and international issues of common concern, including the UN Counter-Terrorism Unit as part of a comprehensive approach to preventing the financing of terrorism.
The two presidents also reviewed the progress of ongoing efforts to resolve crises in the region, where Sisi stressed the importance of achieving political solutions, maintaining the national state and strengthening the coherence and unity of its institutions to observe development and progress.
It is noteworthy that President Sisi visited Budapest in 2017 to participate in the Visegrád summit.
