Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held talks with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, on the sidelines of the World Government Summit, hosted in Dubai.
The meeting reviewed relations between Egypt and IMF, especially in light of the cooperation program between the two sides, to complete the implementation of the Egyptian economic reform process, according to presidential spokesman Ahmed Fahmy.
Sisi valued the fruitful participation and constructive cooperation between the Egyptian government and IMF to continue implementing the comprehensive economic reform program.
In this regard, the president stressed Egypt's keenness to continue strengthening structural reforms related to fiscal and monetary policies and maximizing the role of the private sector, which helps provide a positive climate for all investors and financial markets.
On her part, Georgieva praised the performance of the Egyptian economy and its ability to withstand and absorb the negative repercussions resulting from Coronavirus pandemic and Russian-Ukrainian crisis, taking into account the development vision that the Egyptian state seeks to pursue under the leadership of Sisi, in order to continue improving the overall indicators of the Egyptian economy.
Furthermore, she expressed IMF's aspiration to continue distinguished cooperation with Egypt and to support its economic reforms.
