Sisi Honors Police Martyrs' Families

Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi honored a number of police martyrs' families, during a celebration held to mark the 69th anniversary of Police Day.

The President also bestowed the Order of Excellence, first and third classes, on idol police officers.

On Monday,  Sisi attended a celebration held to mark the 69th anniversary of Police Day.

Upon his arrival, he laid a wreath of flowers at police martyrs’ memorial.

The President was accompanied by Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik, Parliament Speaker Hanafy El-Jebali, Al-Azhar Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed El-Tayyeb, Pope Tawadros II,  as well as a galaxy of top state officials.

National Police Day marks a battle fought by police forces in 1952 against British occupation forces in Ismailia City, which resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries.
