Sisi Hails Egypt's Handball Team's Heroic Performance at Tokyo Olympics

On Thursday, Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi hailed the heroic performance of the Egyptian handball team in the semifinal of the Tokyo Olympics.

The Pharaohs lost 23-27 to France in the semifinals after a convincing show on Thursday. They will battle it out with Spain for the bronze medal on Saturday. Spain lost to Denmark 23-27 in the semifinal on Thursday.

"Greetings of pride and appreciation to our national handball team for the heroic and honorable performance against the French team in the semifinals of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, as they provided the perfect example of the spirit of strength and determination until the last moment of the match,” El-Sisi wrote on his official Facebook page.

“Egypt is proud of your great achievement, your mighty determination and your heroic performance. I also assure my full and comprehensive support in sponsoring Egyptian sports and youth.

“Thank you. You have honored us and made us happy,” the Egyptian president concluded.

On Saturday, the Pharaohs will be trying to claim for Egypt the first handball medal ever at an Olympics.
