Sisi Follows up on Communications, IT Projects Nationwide

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed on Monday developments of national projects nationwide with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

"The meeting followed up on national projects related to the communications and information technology sector," said Rady.

In this regard, Sisi called for the expansion of the latest technologies to double the capabilities of the country’s digital information infrastructure and enhance digital transformation efforts, in parallel with training human cadres on digital skills to support government performance and provide the latest digital services to citizens and the business sector at the national level.

On his part, the minister of communications offered an overview of progress in the implementation of a number of the ministry’s projects in the communications and information technology sector, particularly within the context of enhancing the capacity of the Egyptian person.

This includes the opening of the "Egypt Informatics University" and its educational operations, the expansion of training students on information technology skills, the implementation of the “Our Digital Future” initiative targeting trainees, graduates and independent professionals, and the “Africa for Digital Creativity” initiative launched by Sisi.

The ministry of communications’ efforts towards the digital transformation of the country were also reviewed, especially with regard to preparing the digital examination system and digitizing courts through the strategy of "Egypt's Digital Justice".

During the meeting, Sisi was briefed on the ministry of communications’ efforts within the framework of the services aspect of the "Decent Life" initiative aimed to develop Egypt’s rural villages, especially by developing the Internet infrastructure and improving mobile services by expanding cell towers.

This also includes enhancing the efficiency of post offices and services, which are yet to witness completion, through the development of more than 3000 post offices nationwide by the end of this year, as well as the development of the parcel system in order to encourage electronic commerce.
