Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Saturday, with Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, on the sidelines of G20 summit in India.

Both sides expressed their mutual appreciation for the distinguished Egyptian-European relations, with an emphasis on the importance of developing them and deepening the traditional strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union (EU), taking into account the two sides' sharing of the Mediterranean regional neighborhood, and the important impact that this geographical situation has had historically in building bridges of civilizational, cultural, commercial, and political communication between Egypt and the European continent.

The meeting discussed the developments in the various aspects of relations between the two sides. 

In this regard, Sisi expressed his aspiration to strengthen cooperation with the European Union (EU) based on the principles of mutual benefit and common interest, as a pillar of regional integration and stability.

Moreover, the President hailed EU as an important partner in the modernization process that is taking place in various development sectors in Egypt, including major infrastructure projects, energy projects, and the green transition.

In turn, the President of the European Commission stressed the importance of "Egyptian-European Partnership Priorities until 2027" document as a vital framework for further deepening the Egyptian-European partnership in the coming years in all fields.
