The spokesperson said that the talks tackled the recent developments in the Libyan issue, as interference of external parties in the Libyan crisis was not tolerated since it only complicated further the issue and led to illegitimate gains for the foreign sides at the expense of the Libyan people and its rights and interests.

Both leaders noted that this foreign interference threatens the security and stability of the entire Libyan regional neighborhood as an extension of Europe. Hence, there is a necessity on joint efforts of the international community by supporting the relevant international endeavors as well as implementing the outputs of the Berlin conference to settle the issue.

On another hand, President Sisi and the Greek PM have discussed ways of enhancing the joint cooperation between the two countries at various levels, whether at the bilateral level or within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism between Egypt, Cyprus and Greece.

In this regard, the leaders agreed to resume the mutual visits at the level of senior officials upon the return of  air traffic, with the aim of  continuing to positively  develop the various  aspects of cooperation between the two countries.

During their talks, both leaders stressed upon the importance of the consistency of common interests and positions in the Eastern Mediterranean region, while stressing that the East Mediterranean Gas Forum represents one of the most important tools in this framework.

This forum, according to them, would enhance the prospects for cooperation between its members in the field of energy and gas, and the transfer of resources for promising investment opportunities for current peoples and future generations.

Regarding the coronavirus crisis, Rady explained that both sides discussed the efforts to contain the outbreak of the novel coronavirus as well as those to counter the health, economic and social repercussions of the crisis.

President Sisi and the Greek PM have agreed on further cooperation in this regard, through exchanging expertise and coordinating between relevant authorities in Egypt and Greece to make maximum benefit in fighting the pandemic.
